How does child sponsorship work?

AgapeCARE’s sponsorship goal is to assist your child and his/her family to empower the child  by providing access to better care, educational advancement and enrichment  so they can face the future confidently. Your monthly gift of RM100 would therefore provide all these opportunities which the family could not otherwise afford.

Eligibility for sponsorship is determined by AgapeCARE by assessing the family’s background  and  income, number of dependents, financial commitments and special needs of the children. Once the family is able to stand of their own, the assistance provided through child sponsorship will cease.

How long will sponsorship last?

The commitment for each child is for a year and will be reviewed.   Your sponsorship may last for a year or the entire duration the support for the child is needed. Should you decide not to renew your sponsorship at the end of the year, kindly notify us accordingly so we can assign a new sponsor to your sponsored child to ensure continuity. However we do hope you will be able to stay on as a child sponsor so long as it is needed. When your sponsored child no longer needs your direct help you will be duly informed and you may choose to share your love and concern with another child who is in need.

Getting to know your sponsored child

You will receive your sponsored child’s story accompanied by a current photograph and an introductory letter from your sponsored child.

Your level of involvement and extent to which you would like to build a relationship with your sponsored child is entirely up to you. However, we do ask that all contact and correspondence be made through our office and that you do not exchange personal contact details with your sponsored child. This is to avoid situations where the child’s family may  contact you directly to ask for additional funds or assistance.  For security and part of our child protection policy the sponsored child should not at any time be removed from his or her school, home or our centre.

All contributions and donations received will be 100% channelled to the sponsee. AgapeCARE Society will oversee all expenditure and disbursements to ensure that the funds are used strictly for their intended purposes.
